Jelle Straub: My Internship at OPRA Turbines

n May this year, Jelle Straub joined OPRA Turbines as an intern in the Finance & Administration Department. We caught up with Jelle to find out more about his experience at OPRA Turbines. Read what he shared with us below:

I choose OPRA Turbines to apply for an internship as I had received a good recommendation from my old mentor. During my initial interview with Robbie Greving (Manager Finance and Administration) and Roland Pross (Financial Accountant) I immediately felt enthusiastic about OPRA as a company and was delighted to complete my internship here.

There are several reasons I have enjoyed my internship experience at OPRA Turbines. Firstly, the work environment has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Besides contact with my direct colleagues within the Finance & Support department, I have also been able to engage and work with colleagues from other departments.

As an intern I liked a lot that OPRA allowed me to explore and get involved with additional tasks outside of my daily activities. There is so much to learn here, and you never fall in a monotonous routine. OPRA has employees from all over the world and the fact that most colleagues do not speak Dutch helped me to develop my English language skills.

Finally, I got to be involved with the OPRA We Care campaign. During the month of June, I biked the Elfsteden tocht with my dad. The fact that I could share this achievement with my colleagues at OPRA while hearing what the others did made me realize how much I value the social activity and connections within the company.

What I appreciate a lot from my time at OPRA, is my internship coach Roland. He has provided me with the freedom to plan my own working day but is also available for any questions I may have. His guidance has been very helpful to me, and this kind of support is something you might not find very often.

It was a good choice to have my internship at OPRA Turbines.
