From 17-21 June 2019, OPRA attended the ASME Turbo Expo Turbomachinery Technical Conference & Exposition. The 5-day conference exhibition attracts over 2500 industry’s leading professionals and key decision makers, whose innovation and expertise are helping to shape the future of the turbomachinery industry. Latest innovations in various key areas of gas turbine technology are presented, including combustion technology, hybrid and novel energy systems, digitization and additive manufacturing.
Thijs Bouten, Principal Combustion Engineer at OPRA, together with AVL Dacolt, presented a paper ‘Comparison of Different CFD Models for Predicting Emissions in an OPRA DLE Combustor’. The aim of this paper is to compare different numerical models for the accurate prediction of emissions. The numerical results are validated against experimental results obtained in OPRA’s state-of-the-art atmospheric combustion test rig. These advanced numerical methods, support OPRA’s R&D environment that drives our innovation and will result in future low-emission and fuel-flexible combustion systems.
