At OPRA, we encourage learning and development across all departments and are happy to see employees eager to grow and develop their career within the company. Recently Peter de Graaf made the step from Mechanical Designer to Lead Mechanical Engineer. Read below to find out his thoughts on the move!
I joined OPRA in 2006 as a Mechanical Designer. After gaining a lot of experience in my role, I was ready for a new challenge!
Why did you decide to apply for the new position within OPRA?
My job function was part of the R&D department focusing on traditional, research-oriented R&D. I was involved in many projects where I gained a lot of experience and really enjoyed the role. I am very proud to say that at OPRA we are given internally the opportunity to apply for new vacancies It gives you an opportunity to explore new opportunities and to grow in different environments whether in a business unit or a different department. When the position of Lead Mechanical Engineer opened up, I was eager for a new challenge where I could be part of the team where orders are turned into actual projects.
How are you finding your new role?
Project based work with the direct connection to the production line is what I am really enjoying these days. I feel that I can add value with the knowledge and experience I have gained in my previous role. I am looking forward to growing and expanding my skills. I am looking forward to working in a customer-oriented project driven technical team.
